Lisa Fralinger- Associate Director
Passionate about dancing since the age of three, Lisa Fralinger has been trained in the Cecchetti method of ballet, as well as modern, tap, and jazz. Along with currently performing and instructing at the Civic Dance Center in Portage, IN, Lisa has studied at The Dance Academy, Lansing, IL; Indiana Ballet Theatre NW, Crown Point, IN; Ruth Page School of Dance, Chicago, IL; and with the Joffrey Ballet School in their trainee program, New York, NY.
Lisa has performed in numerous ballets including Swan Lake, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Firebird, Peter Pan, Copellia, Gaite Parrisian, and The Nutcracker at the Star Plaza Theatre. Lisa has portrayed the lead roles of Odette in Swan Lake, the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella. While on a performing tour of England and France in 2001, Lisa was certified in London for her knowledge and skill of the Imperial Classical Ballet Intermediate Syllabus, receiving highly commended marks under the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Lisa has performed as a soloist in the Chicago National Association of Dance Master’s Ballet Forum, where she received a full scholarship to study with the Florida Youth Ballet Theatre. She has also modeled for Art Stone dance costume catalog in New York.
Along with having twelve years of teaching and choreography experience in ballet, tap, and jazz, Lisa has choreographed for Boone Grove High School’s musical “Kiss Me Kate” (05’), Highland Middle School’s musical, “Chorus Line” (07’), and the Daughter’s of Penelope Annual Cotillion Ball for graduating seniors of Hellenic descent (06’through 09’). Lisa has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education from Indiana University NW and teaches 6th grade math at Fegely Middle School.
